My 05 Vulcan's housing chrome wrap started to bubble and peel so I decided that I'd take all the chrome off, repair the crack and re paint it to match the body. Now that I'm half way through with the first one (this stuff is stuck on better than I thought) I'm begining to wonder if not having he metal plated chrome that's on it now will affect how it cools the bike. I'm a newbie and have the clymer manual on the way trying to restore this bike. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, I peeled and peeled the chrome plating(took a good hour) and primed it and then accidentally flipped the ear on its face, messing up the primer and said screw this and ordered one off eBay. The whole reason was to hide the bubbling and peeling on the ears. After placing the order smart me realized that I could have just switched the ears on both saids and the bubbling on both of them would have been on the bottom. Ah the joy of figuring out the small things the hard way. And better yet I've got all the parts for an ear shave in the mail!
