The clamp (?) at the top of the forks that holds the steering etc uses 2 bolts - 14mm head with 1/2" shank and 1" thread.
I am trying to find 2 replacement bolts that are slightly longer than the 1&1/2" current but not sure what thread to request. The only bolts i have found locally are all fully threaded and i've been told that they will not offer the same strength as the ones with the shank.
I am now resorting to ebay, but unsure how to size up my requirement.

Ha Ha Ha - you're joking mate. They'd give you a bent nail and say 'that'll probably fit ok '

would the stock bolts be imperial or metric ?

top clamp bolt is 8mmx40mm bolt. lower bolts are 10mmx40.

if you need longer top bolts, go for 8mmx50 (or 60)mm.

size info found in the service manual, parts listing section.
