Beloved Spouse's 04 VN750 was running for crap - hard to start, missing, seemed to take off on just one cylinder: not a happy Vulcan. After running thru a mental checklist of all the thngs that could be wrong, I changed the battery to a Westco AGM. Motivated by visions of fried stators, as mentioned on this forum many times, and reports of the marginal electrical system, also mentioned on this forum many times, I decided that the current problem was just that: not enough current from the (original) battery.

Bingo! Happy Vulcan, happy Spouse. And. as all of us know, if Mama ain't happy, nobody is happy. Thanks for the tips, folks.

Go through the checks on the stator and R/R to be on the safe side.

Yes, it is amazing that something like a battery change could make such a huge difference in the way these bikes run. I would have never thought that a battery change could do that without all the input from this forum.
