Based on the damage, it doesn't look like he was going too fast. Hoping he's OK!

Of the 10 pics, I only saw physical damage to the Headlight & Horns.
Is that a 1994 or 1995 ?

I see the road being wet....wonder if he slid or just hit the van straight on. The right side of the tank seems hit pretty good.

I wonder...did the van signal before turning??

I believe the water was from the Fire Dept hosing things down.

Last pic shows a broken fork holder on right side. Appears that whole front end is out of whack.

Wet Road

The road could also be wet from where he pi$$ed his drawers. I know I would have if I was slamming into the back of a van... :wow:

Reading the report, THe Rider was at fault, and the bike will most likely be totaled.

History of the vn750 as we know it:
http://www.vn750.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1771&highlight=color+year

Quote from link above^^^^
A10 1994 Green / Blue " " " "
A10 94 Red / Red " " " "
A11 1995 Green / Blue " " " "
A11 95 Red / Red " " " "
A12 1996 Red / Gray " " " "
A12 96 Blue / Silver " " " "
A13 1997 Red / Gray " " " "
A13 97 Ebony / G. Silver " " " "
Judging from the tank colors it appears to be either a`96 Blue / Silver, or `97 Ebony / G. (Gray?) Silver to me. :)

I know the bike wound up on laying on it's left side but when I looked at picture 9 of 10.....I swear the right side tank looks like it was partially collapsed....guess maybe my eyes are not what they used to be.

I guess I didn't think the water was from the FD after the accident....not with the poor guy laying in the street still....oh well

According to the "history" the side covers were chrome from `88 to `98 inclusive.

No, you are right. The right side of the tank is definately caved in.
There is no explanation in the newspaper account of how that happened.
Perhaps it was his body crushing the tank in the crash.
Alternate possibility is it was a pre-existing condition.

I wonder if the cops checked that the van's brake lights were operational. I'm feelin' biker error on this one regardless but there just aren't enough details out right now...

"Abdominal pain" is probably a euphamism for "crushed his nuts o nthe tank. Remember the pics from my boy Steve's accident?

As much as I'd like to take the rider's side, I don't see how this rear ending could be anyone but the rider's fault. There are very few times when a rear ending is the fault of anyone but the driver doing the hitting. Every state has some kind of law that mandates drivers maintain "assured clear distance" from the vehicle in front of them.

Well you can safely say he wasn't texing while driving, still riders fault any time you run into something. I see too often when other bikers ride up on someone's but.
I also see another possible luggage rack going on ebay!
