Would a bad stator cause my bike (1994 vulcan 750) not fire? The spark is orangish color at the plug. It rolls over but just won't fire. I do know the stator needs replaced, just not sure if that would prevent it from firing

It will start and run on a bad stator, but a weak battery is deal killer.

Mine had both a bad stator and weak battery, it would crank some, then backfire. A new AGM type battery and she fired up every time.

Orange spark is never good, but you can't troubleshoot it if the battery is down.

Do you know what the battery voltage is?

The coil can be tested, and also check voltage at the coil. Is all the spark orange or just on one cylinder?

Have you tested the stator and r/r?

Could be a problem with wiring or the junction box.

There's a free download here for the repair manual which has the test procedures.
