I had to rejet. The Vulcan runs on the lean side to begin with, and it was too lean with those pipes. Plug insulators were white, and it took forever to warm up, and had flat spots. I went up one size on the main and pilot jets, and turned the pilot screws out about 3 turns. It ran perfectly. Other than that horrible racket at highway speed. I live at 1200 feet. if you live a lot higher, you might be able to squeeze by without rejetting. Put the pipes on, and see how it runs. Put in a new set of plugs, and ride about 100 miles. Then remove the plugs. The insulators (inside the engine) should be a nice dark tan color. If they are white or almost white, you are too lean. the combustion chamber temperature will be too high. It may not show up on the temp gauge, but it can burn both the pistons and the valves.
