Does anyone know if there is a guide or specific explanation of the transmission? I'm looking for orientations and gear selector lever placement and alignment with the shift drum. I think I understand the basic idea but I'm having trouble getting everything to line up right and I don't fully understand exactly how it works which could be the problem.

There's a repair and parts manual ( with diagrams) linked in my signature. Hit the drop down arrow beside the signature.

Look for Andrew Roth on YouTube, he's got a 28 part series on assembly of the VN750, though I'm not sure how deep he went into the transmission.
