I'm rebuilding my engine, and I forgot to order a gasket for the transmission side cover. I have one on order, but it's taking it's time to arrive. Am I crazy to consider making a temporary gasket with SuzukiBond (TB1207B) and replace it with the real one during my first oil change?

Second question, am I correct that the side cover is removable when the engine is still in the frame?

Which side? Which cover?

The 'bond might work, but the water pump is on the clutch side, don't want a leak there.

Clutch side just need to pull the headpipe/footpeg.

Yes that's right, the frame has to drop.

I think if you put it on the sidestand, you can leave the oil in it. But pretty sure the coolant gets drained.

Had to replace that gasket on mine, the top right corner was pushed out. Looked like it had always been that way. Third one I've seen with that corner pushed out. You could slide a dime through the loop of gasket.

Thought maybe it had the wrong gasket, but no.

Almost all of the bolts are different lengths, it's good to have a system to keep them sorted. I just laid them side by side, and took them all out in a clockwise direction.
