Ok, well my pos bike has been down for a week now. And I've owned it 2 weeks so that 's a good ratio. I can get it to run with the choke full on but it's pouring gas out of the exhaust right where it bolts to the head. So I guess I have an exhaust leak too, but obviously I need to fix the gas leak. I'm guessing it's very flooded. It also smokes like crazy from the front cylinder. A friend said I could tap on the carb bowl and maybe free up a stuck float, but that didn't work. Do I need to pull the plugs and get the gas out? Also, why would it flood so bad? Thanks guys. Or (gulp) do I have to pull the carbs off? This was supposed to be a bike to learn to ride well on, not become a damn bike mechanic!

Pull the plugs and let the fuel evaporate over night. Then spray starter fluid in the carbs the next day with the fuel off and plugs put back in and see if it will start like that (that will tell you if the ignition is working properly. Then, try it with fuel on after she is a bit warm. My bike doesn't like to much choke and will flood if i am not patient. So, put the choke in a little at a time. Also make shure your battery is fully charged, because a low battery means a weak spark. I bought sealed battery and it solved my problems starting since it is alot higher CC amps. If it still does not work after all that rebuild the carbs.

Had the same problem 2 years ago after winterizing fuel with seafoam. Put in fresh gas for start up. One cylinder was blowing gasoline out exhaust pipe, then became hydrolocked. pulled plugs, turned over motor to blow out gas. Ended up pulling carbs cleaning out gunk, not that bad a job. Runs great since. No choke needed.:carryflag

Looks like carb pulling is in order. Question: where do you guys get the ear shaving kit? Figure I may as well do it while I'm in there. I see this sherm's cycle page has the kit for $240, is there anywhere cheaper to get this stuff? Otherwise, I'll just have to somehow get the carbs out with the surge tank in the way, but that looks like a real pita.
