Just as I'm about to pull my engine out to try and do the tuxedo mod on my 2005, I go on ebay to try and buy a stator plate. Last week I saw it for $90 but then today I check it and the mark up is insane! Is there some kinda of reasonable explanation for this? Either way, it doesn't look like I'm gonna be doing that tux mod anytime soon. Unless someone has one they can sell me for less than an arm and a leg.

Can't tell if that's gcextreme's listing, but the price is insanity. Could be a mistake on the listing?

Have a link?

Could try sending a message through ebay and see what he says. The listing says there's three available. Maybe he got pranked by someone with access to his ebay account.

I can start manufacturing these if people are in need. Was $90 a standard going rate? I'm happy to cut the plate (I've got some 1/16th aluminum on hand) but don't want to go through the hassle of sourcing the proper screws.

The price was lower, I was surprised to see them at $90. Original price should be in a thread here somewhere.

So far, I've only done my stator once in 6 years. If I had to do it a lot more often, I might see the benefit in cutting the case. However, people that have pulled their engines often, have said they got the time down to a couple of hours or so. I pulled mine twice in two days.

I messaged him on Facebook and he said he will have more in a couple weeks. He jacks up the price to 10k so no one will buy them. He's waiting on the machine shop to make them.

I’m not an eBay wiz, but why not just list them as unavailable?

Could be he's getting a discount on fees that's good as long as the listing is up. Or he feels it's a PITA to put up another listing.

Seems like a good way to drive customers away.
