I am only getting about 5 volts to the starter relay when I press the starter switch. If I breach the main solenoid lugs with a screw driver the starter turns. I pulled the relay and bench tested. When I connect the switch with a full 12 volts the solenoid connects. Anyone know the reason for the lack of voltage in the switch circuit? Yes...the battery is fully charged....Cosmo

Where at on the solenoid are you getting 5 volts? the wire from battery to selenoid should give you direct 12 volts all the time... if you don't have 12 volts there, look for a bad connection on the battery, or your batter cable is shorting out some where. now If you are talking about the little wire on the two prong connector, it gets it's voltage from the starter relay inside the JB, and if you are getting only 5 volts, then the diodes and starter relay inside the JB are not working right.
