If I recall, the starter relay is a pretty common one and you should be able to pick up a replacement at just about any auto parts store
Curtis posted one over on the yahoo group
Trombetta 892-1221-210 pretty typical looking starter relay.

There is a starter relay behind the right side cover also.
Clymers manual, page 315

Dianna said it. And Niterider confirmed.The real starter relay is behind the right side cover.
The one in he junction box is just there to avoid activating the relay
when the ignition key is not in place...
If you bypass the small relay, you are at risk somebody push the starter button
and activate the starter motor (ignition not activated because ignition key not in place, the engine won't start). The result may be draining the battery...
And, when you try to fire the engine, it will not start, because the battery is drained...
