Hello,

I am relatively new to wrenching on my bike, but brave none-the-less. Right now there is a chirping or squeaking noise coming from the front wheel. It speeds up and slows down in relation to the rotation of the wheel. I'm pretty confident that it's not the brakes and everything else there seems OK. So, I am beginning to suspect that it's coming from the wheel that drives the speedometer cable. So, I wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations for lubricating that. From what I remember of the old days in working on machines, I don't want to just shoot WD40 in there if it needs grease.

So, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Graphite lube for locks would probably be perfect. Could be the speedo gearbox at the wheel, if it's not the cable.
