Finally, here's some pics of Sportster XL mufflers on my VN. Very simple to install, only needed to make a gasket between the goat (OD) and the ID of the mufflers. A chrome flat bar attaches the XL,s to the old muffler mount on the frame. I made a mp3 and will post sound asap.

Cost? $10 for the mufflers on eBay and some time - I had the flat bar in the garage. Sound great, and the exhaust doesn't melt my bags (WalMart coolers).

The goat is drilled completely acting as a X-over tube.

What is the best length to use? Will any Harley mufflers work or just Sporster? I have a 1991 Vulcan 750 and am wanting to chnage the exhaust and love how one like yours sounds. Also can I use my support tubes or do I need the ones from the Harley mufflers? How do I drill out the goat and use it as a crossover pipe instead of buying an H pipe?

here's a pic of mine, no goat and mounted on the right side! I like the looks of mine on this side but the other side looks a little bare without a pipe, so I always park this side facing out! LOL
