Someone did it a while back but I can't find the thread. I want to get the rust off the rim of the tach and the speedo and black chrome it. Can't find how to take apart. That is separate the rim and glass from the body in order to clean and paint.

Not positive but I believe they are sealed units that do not come apart. Something about not being able to mess with the miles on the odometer.

I am going to mask the bottom portion, sand the top "ring" and paint to match the tank and fenders.

If Z-Hills is where I think, I work across 75 from you in Lutz on 54 just east of 41.

You can actually remove the rusting bezels by prying it gently off the body of the tach with a small screwdriver; however, you have to fold the whole ring back and upward off of the plastic inner body. If you do it this way and try to pry it back onto the body, it will end up looking "rippled." FAR easier to tape and paint. (I had a spare dead tach I experimented on.)
