NO - I did NOT have one. But I found a video on Break.com that is a very good analysis of what happens when a bike t bones a car. They used crash test dummies, so no humans were harmed in the making. Just some poor motorcycle.

Thanx AJ. It sure is sobering to watch the second video of the car turning left into the rider. MSF statistics say this is the one we need to watch for.

Yeah - I've watched so many accident videos it's a wonder I still ride. One thing I notice is that in a big chunk of htem the rider does not make any attempt to slow down before impact. That says the rider was either 1. not paying attention, or 2. (more likely) there was no warning in what were otherwise "safe" circumstances. Like hte video of the MC cop that t boned a car that ran the light. It wasn't like hte light had JUST changed. But the car went blowing through the intersection. Scary stuff man.

Hey, Everybody...!!!

It's been a while for me here, but since you were discussing crashes I thought I would add some web links as food for thought...

from the state of Florida:

http://www.rideprouddressloud.com/

and from the state of Minnesota:

http://www.highviz.org/

and also....Scorpion's new (and very affordable) neon-colored helmet:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/scorpion/exo-700-neon/

Some good reading there...in a world full of idiots using cell phones while driving, you almost can't be too prepared!!!....

Yep, scary stuff indeed! :wow: There is some consolation in that the "unavoidable" (hit by a red light runner) crashes would probably happen to us even if we were in a cage. But it's no consolation that we have a much greater chance of survival/minor injuries in a cage than on a moto.

Probably like most riders, I ride in spite of the danger because I luv riding so much.

Thnx for sharing your thoughts, AJ! :smiley_th

Yep, cool video. You can easily see that had that been a real rider, he would more than likely been killed. So, repeating Law Number One of motorcycle riding:
DO NOT HIT ANYTHING.

Helmets are for banging your head when you fall on the ground, not centerpunching car windows.
