I think it's really cool that you guys did this (practice). I did it some when I first got the bike in 2011. I need to do it some more.

Makes it even better if you have someone to practice with

I ride over 1000 miles a month weather permitting, but even then I know the value of practicing low speed and evasive maneuvers. I commend you for doing so.

I would love to do it all again.

I also want to drag against your bike too. I hit the rev limiter enough with crappy parts and nothing blew up, I think it is ready.

this site has them - called parking lot pals

http://www.ridelikeapronj.com/products.html

then amazon has these:

http://www.amazon.com/Set-10-Orange-Disc-Cones/dp/B0019D565G

I bought the ride like a pro ones to support their cause, but they are LOTS more expensive.

Kenny
Wow that is a huge difference in price... however, the more expensive ones do look sturdier... but at 3dlls per 10, I could replace them anyway lol. I like how they pop up when you go over them. Makes it easy to look back and see exactly where you messed up.

im not sure they always pop up, but when you run them over they usually get creased or change shape a bit.

they are low profile cones, they are always 'popped up' and sometimes when you run them over they get smushed, but they will come back to shape.

its worth the practice.

I have this one stretch that I ride out in the country where there isn't any traffic, no cops, nothing really except the cemetery on the ridge, on the right side of the road...lol...

http://mapshare.delorme.com/Consumer/V.aspx?p=mygrf868

You can go into the straight from off the hill on the left in the 90s and see what you got in the next near mile (.93) of straight smooth road...
It's a place that is hard to find these days with the traffic being what it is, have traveled it a bunch, and gave the bike an oil stirring several times and have not had to let up for a cage, cop, cow or any other reason, except for this one chicken...lol...
PS-I always say, any idiot can ride fast, it takes a dang good rider to go really slow... If you don't believe me, try trials riding...

It was a lot of fun doing the practice...and well worth the effort IMO.

It looks easy until you try it.....The VN750 is nimble at speed, but slow speed trials are a different situation all together. the bike is low slung weight, but the taller center of gravity makes it a challenge to crawl in a tight circle and zig zagging through cones. Also consider the gearing of your bike....first gear on the VN750 is "jerky" and has a small window(0-10MPH). Doing the coarse at 2mph was not as easy as you might think it is.

If you haven't done any real slow speed practice lately, I suggest you get out there and do it.

great point on the range of 1st... my drifter gets me to 40mph in first. (that is redline 8K) but still....

I may change that if I end up with a touring bike, make the drifter SUPER fast, tiny front sprocket, huge rear sprocket, pop wheelies and stuff
