Got caught at work in a rather heavy rain. Only live about 5 miles from work and its city driving. So, I rode home never getting above 3rd gear. Most of the time in 1st and 2nd. It seemed to me like I had no upper end throttle response. Sort of fell off about 4K. Anyone else see this before? Didn't ride it to work due to overcast today so I don't know if drying out fixed it.

I do have to say, I have noticed that it won't start all the time now. Push the button and nothing happens. Push it again and it works. May be the switch, may be the solenoid, but it may be it's not charging well. I didn't see any dimming of the lights but trouble engaging starter and lack of top end have been symptoms on other vehicles when the voltage is getting low.

Ignition switch. I guarantee it. Oh and FYI, if you don't clean it, soon you will be cruising along at 55mph and the bike will go dead silent. It's freaky scary to have that happen in traffic on the highway coming home from work.

Your carbs might be getting to much dampness in the rain is all that prolly is.

Ignition switch? I don't touch the ignition switch after turning it on--just hit the starter button again.

Bought a full set of keyed components from the classifieds here. Maybe I'll be replacing things this weekend. Was hoping to make that a winter project.

Ear shave with cone filters installed this season. Water logged filters would make sense. Did seem to me one cylinder was worse off than the other but thats just an impression--didn't actually check.

I've ridden in some pretty serious downpours and through puddles after my earshave and I have never had any issues with water getting in the filters. Not saying that's not your problem, but that is my experience.

Same thing happened to me with my ol '91 Vulcan,push the start button...nutton!!Shop bypassed the Junction Box,got it working.
