i am riding on a shinko 712 front tire 110/90/19 and a nexen 165/80/15 car tire in the rear

i was on my way to work today and the roads were slicker than owl sheit on a wet fence post with that steady drizzle of rain that makes visibility very low

i was running on the highway at 60mph straight and true keeping pace with all the cages then this idiot tried merging left and get in the lane with me
i had no chance to second guess my equipment i just threw the bike to the left and braced myself for the worst while hoping for the best

then a split second later it dawned on me i was in the next lane doing 70mph and i thought if i had tried that on my shinko 170/80/15 mt i would have had some nasty results

One of the other positive attributes of running rear car tires is better grip on wet roads in straight line traveling and braking. Most car tires have more tread blocks and thus more channels for water to escape from.

Many bike tires have little tread, especially down the center and seem more prone to hydroplane.

I had a Nexen tire ready to go on, but my wife was wondering if my life insurance claim would be denied because I was running a CT. Maybe, maybe not. But she was uncomfortable, so I returned the tire the next day. I was not concerned about the safety, per se. If I was single I would have that car tire on while I cruised for chicks.

i doubt it would mess with your life insurance but just in case you should check with your provider

on a lighter not i do get some head turns from other riders on the road:smiley_th

If I had an insurance company that was THAT nitpicky, Id dump em in a heartbeat....only thing they need to be concered about is whether or not it passed the state inspection. If the state HAS no inspection, then the tires need only to be of legal tread depth.
The mfg reccomends a certain tire size....but thats it...brand name/normal use is up to anyone. I can put knobby MX tires on mine, and nobody could say squat. I found an SUV tire that'd fit our rear too...they couldnt say sheit long as the tread was good. Picture a Goodyear Wrangler on the rear, lol...might be ok if ya ride a lotta hardscrabble roads...

as far as the vibration i was told about that comes with making bars out of solid steel i don't feel them and i had her up to 70 on the highway today

I think I did good for a little cracker jack 110 flux core mig and a 4 1/2 in grinder and a tape measure

Didn't clean the steel good before I primed it so the self etching didn't stick and the gloss black made the primer flake up it took longer to paint than it did to fab up
