Is it possible to remove the plugs without removing the carbs from the bike? the left /front carb looks tricky since is looks aimed at the cylinder.

Some have removed it with a dental pick. :beerchug:

Yes it is, I did. There is more room between the screw and the plug then I thought. You just have to work at it with small pointy instruments.

It is a little tight, but when I did mine I used a dremel tool with a small pointed bit to grind a hole in the center, then popped it out with the point of a sharp pick. I can tell you, after reading many of the posts on how to do this, I expected a soft lead plug. Mine was a hard little plug that appeared to be aluminum. With out the dremel, I could not get a hole by just working a sharp pick. Good luck
