Hello all, I do not personally own a Kawasaki Vulcan 750 But My little brother just bought one as his first bike. 86 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 to be exact. During a conversation he mentioned that he would like the bike to be louder (he still has stock pipes on it) seeing as Christmas is coming up I figured i can help with this issue. I was looking around Ebay, Google and used Search function on here and looked at different Exhausts and didn't really turn up any results other than the Cobra (Slip on i believe it is?) and the Vance & Hines Cruzers Exhaust. Reviews seem fine but i Figured i would come to where the real Experts are IMHO and ask you guys what Exhausts you have tried, what ones you have seen, whats the popular options to go with. . .ect Also is there anything else i should buy with the new exhaust? does it need a jet kit? What Year parts are compatible with his bike and Is there any common mods you guys recommend to do to the bike to make it run better or anything like that? again the bike is a 1986 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 im a little new to this whole thing sorry. Thank you for your time and help in advance.

I tried a few different things before I settled on the V&H Cruzers. I tried Sportster mufflers with the goat belly in place and without it and stock mufflers without the goat belly. Really what sold me on the cruzers were that they were louder with a much nicer tone than the other things I tried and they looked a heck of a lot better.

As far as other things to buy, you should get crush gaskets to ensure there are no exhaust leaks. You shouldn't have to re-jet if you are just changing the exhaust, but opinions and experiences vary on that one. ;)

I have Jardines. Not sure if still out on the market.
Saw a new set of Jardine pipes on ebay last week, could've been new old stock. Looked like you got two mufflers and one chrome pipe for the left side (stock pipe is already chrome on the right side).

The 'Jardines' on eBay looked to be the MAC exhaust, and not as niterider pictured. At least the ones I saw last week.

You may be right, don't think they had the crossover pipe, just two mufflers and one left side pipe. Edit: on second look, maybe that is a crossover pipe:

Insert Ebay URL here cause i still dont have 5 posts lol
So would this be a good one to get him? or should I look at something else?

I tried the V&H Cruzers (bought brand new) They sounded great around town, But I am/was a long distance highway rider, and the engine's high rpm on the highway killed the sound. It just became a loud drone, even with ear plugs and a full face helmet. I eventually got tired of it, and went back to stock. I would think that any method used to make the exhaust louder would be the same. Once while working on my bike, I had both mufflers removed. I started it up that way, and loved the sound at idle. I took it out on the road and ran into the same issue.

Since your brother just bought the bike, and it is an '85 (which is a 700, not a 750) I would not spend a lot of money on an exhaust until the bike has been given a good going over. Older Vulcan 750s, and some newer ones, have problems that need to be repaired, that can often be expensive.

And as KM said, a good DOT full face helmet would be first on my list if he doesn't already have one.

I guess another side of the coin, I don't mind the way my V&H pipes sound on the freeway. I run earplugs and a full face, and you can still hear the bike, no doubt. It just doesn't bother me I guess.

They're a lot quieter than some of these crazy HDs I've seen. I can't imagine..

Jerry that IS a 750.have never seen a 700 with a silver motor(or one made in 86).Mine sounds fine at higher rpms.sometimes things that sound fine to one others find are loud and annoying...

I want a set like the OEM. I like the balanced look of en exhaust on each side. Any recommendations? Any OEM set for sale?

The V&H Cruzers have a pipe on each side. What exhaust do you have currently? I have some of my old stock exhaust parts out in the garage somewhere, but I don't have the goat belly anymore. I tossed that in the trash when I took it off because it was too big to store anywhere at the time. :)

i have drilled out the baffles from both exhausts but not much louder to be honest. Can i remove the goats belly and just weld/blank each exhaust ie no connection between the 2 ? or will this cause problems ?
