Anyone own one of these before?

I haven't seen or heard of that one before but it is darned near exactly what I want. I wonder why Kawasaki stopped making them. It's a good size engine between the 900 and the 1700. If I could find one of these I'd get it.

To clarify, I know of 1500 Classics but haven't, for some reason known only to the universe, seen one of these Vulcan 88's. It's like a 750 on steroids. I like that the fuel tank holds 4.22 gallons, but am not hot about the instruments on the tank. (Incidentally, does that tank fit on a 750????) I like that its lightweight as sin but then why does it only have 4 speeds? That's seems odd. The tires are the same size as the 750. The torque rating for the 1500 is considerably higher than the 750, naturally, yet the horsepower is lower. I'd still love to have one and not so much a 1500 Classic because this bike is more 750ish in appearance.

Doc, you and I went up and down on this finaldrive before.. several times.. lol...

The '88 is also refered to as the "BUBF" (Butt Uggly But Fast) lots of information on it right here in these forums as several members have owned or still own them. Very similar to the VN750, and they have the same problems although nothing interchanges between the two bikes other than the rider.

Well, looks like I'm not getting that 88. I knew the bike was in pieces but it didn't look anything like the picture other than the color. Different backrest, different grips, the engine looked different (not chrome like in the pic) and the bike had 30,000 miles on it. He wouldn't budge much on the price. It also had a white Pegasus horse painted on the middle of the tank.
