I was reading the book about the neutral finder. I noticed yesterday, I could be stopped and still go into 2nd gear without stopping at N. Is this something I need to worry about?

Yes, and it will still go into 2nd if I lift the shifter up too far past N.
That is odd, usually you have to roll the bike a little or have the engine running.

I don't mind that it does it, but I just hope there is nothing that could be broken and rattling around in there that could tear something up.

Mine does the same thing, I have to try and stop before it goes too far up and into 2nd gear.

IIRC the positive neutral finder has 3 little ball bearings that move back and forth in small individual chambers, acted upon by centrifugal force. If they get gummed up by dirty oil, they can become inoperative. Not sure, but that could explain the symptoms.

Thanks OlHoss for the explanation. I was worried that it had some pins or something that could be broke off inside. I won't worry about so bad since it could be just some gummed up bearings.
