Good to hear the new tires improved stability and confidence in handling. I was wondering and even posted the question, on how larger tires work on the bike. i just spent some time in the rain on some real old tires,"Spooky" feeling.

OK. Brought out the CPR move on this thread. Next question. I put a Michelin Commander II, 150/90/15, on the rear. Had the Bridgestone Exedra G702 on before. I have noticed a 200 to 300 rpm increase at what the speedometer calls 60mph. With that said, I went to a cycle sale place today that had the Michelin Commander II, Dunlap 702, and the Metzler 880 all in the 170/80/15 size sitting side by side. The Michelin and the Metzler was close in size with the Michelin about a 1/2 inch taller. The Michelin was about 1 1/2 inch taller than the Dunlop. All tires had cardboard between the beads to stand the sidewalls out. Apples to apples, and oranges to oranges, Has anyone every put the Michelin 150/90 (which they didn't have in stock) up to the Michelin 170/80 when mounted and seen the difference themselves? Has anyone used the Michelin 170/80/15 and seen any difference? By math, the 170/80/15 is only 1mm taller than the 150/90/15. But mounted...... I'm wanting to drop the rpm's.

I'm confuzzeled. Last 2 pictures, Shinko 230 Tourmaster Rear - Upsize 170/80 - 15 in back; Stock 150/90 - 15 foreground, there is a noticeable difference. Last picture looks the same.

On the side view, I tried to shoot level with the top of the stock tire, but the new tire kept rolling out on me.

In the last pic, you can see the camera is tilted some, looking at the seam in the garage door. Too late for a retake. :doh:

Wanted the pics, but wanted to get busy mounting.

I'm in need of new tires for this upcoming season, I've not done any work on my bike ( I will, planning on knowing this baby inside and out) but I'm not sure if my first project should be mounting a rear tire. I was offered a free install with retail pricing on the tire. Since that's the subject and I was looking at Metzler, any suggestions?

not just the width of the rim to worry about, but the clearance for the swing arm as well
ill post a close up pic of the clearance tomorrow. mine has been on over a year with no problems.

I just read your quote;
So, you did see a difference on upsizing to 110/90 on bike?
I take it you recommend this for front and Rear..?
