OK so I just ordered a set of Shinko Tour Masters (I went with 110 up front and 170 on the back). I'll report more when I get em' in and mounted.

I have the Shinko 150 on the rear with not much room to spare. Let us know if their 170 is a fit or not...

Why did you go back to the 150/90/15 rear? From what I have read there is no fitment issue with the 170/80/15 rear...correct?

I ordered a Metzeler 880 170/80/15 that I will be putting on Monday so I certainly hope that there are no center stand problems once it is back together. And, Fergy, I will be doing some spline lube at the same time...just bonding with my Vulcan is all. :motorcycl

Dam, now I feel like a party pooper ;-(

Every tire brand size is slightly different. With S&H costing $$$ these days, sending a tire back for exchange would get mighty pricey.

So the shape of the Shinko is what is causing it to fill up the rear tire area more so than other brands? That makes sense and it could be tire specific. I haven't read any issue with the Metzeler 880 here in this forum so hopefully I have a successful weekend of bike bonding.

The season will be coming to a close here pretty soon so I hope to get in as much riding as possible between now and October!

Still looking for the Ural and the sidecar since I can't get the little lady to ride more than 50 miles on the Vulcan due to the seat comfort issue! Looking everyday for a Mustang or Corbin but they are hard to locare for a price I am willing to spend. Although she did say that maybe the next bike should be a bit bigger and more comfortable for two up riding. Gotta love that lady; always thinking of my next bike! :p

Just put the Metzeler Marathon 880 on the rear...170/80 15. There is an inch between the tire and the center stand crossbar and there is just over a half inch between the swingarms and the tire. Fills up the wheel well very nicely and the bike rides like a dream now. It rides the way I wanted it to ride when I first got it! Could have been the 9 year old tires on it that caused it to be a bit squirrely though...new tires, regardless of size may have made a huge difference. But I am extremely happy with the look of the bike and the way it rides now.

And here I am a day late and dollar short.....

I put the same Shinkos on mine (110 front and 170 rear) no fitment issues. I will say it took a little bit of finesse to get the rear in but once in, no problems. And so far they have taken everything I've thrown at them except dumping the clutch on the grass ..... but that's another story .....

Im running the Shinko 110 in the front but opted for the 150 in the back only because at the time I hadn't heard as much about the bigger tire in the back. Would have probably looked a little better there is still a nice gap in there that could be filled. The PO had a 140 in the back to lower it down the easy way I guess. Either way I like the way they ride. The old tires where a Metzler marathon 880 100/19 in the front and Cheng Shin 140/15 in the back. I kinda miss the metzler in the front but the matching tires with the proper tire in the back and bigger in the front make for a lot better ride.

All in all I would say the shinkos are a good deal for the price.
