Hi, I just got my '95 vn750 last week. I just got back from a ride and noticed my bike leaking. I looked underneath the bike and the line from the top of the oil container is hanging down, not connected to anything. Where should that line be connected to?

Confused which line you are speaking of, give a better description, is it rubber tubeing, a metal line, or what, and exactly where is it coming from (top of the oil container?????) don't understand where that would be...
something is not right here, and someone here can help, may not be a problem at all though...
Have a good one...Old Dog...

It's likely a vent line. Post up a picture and we'll get it figured out.

Oil tank???? The oil is in the engine.
Are you referring to the tank on the lower right side of the bike, behind a black (or sometimes chrome) cover, with a cap on top of it?
That's the coolant overflow tank. Hope you didn't put oil in there!!!

That's one of those RARE "oil tanks" that use a special lubricant, I prefer propylene glycol but some prefer ethylene glycol. LOL

yeah. this is my very first bike. im pretty excited!

as for whats going on with my bike right now, i'm not. so i now know that the leak is the coolant. the coolant was all empty, so i bought some and refilled it to see if and where it would leak. it leaks while im riding and a little for a little bit after. i took it for a little ride and i noticed my engine was overheating. so i went home and turned off my bike, and it was steaming/smoking (not really sure which one) under my bike. and i could hear it making an odd noise, so i opened the coolant cap and the coolant looked almost like it was boiling. now, i'm no mechanic, but i know this is really bad. what should i do? or not do?

thanks for helping me thus far, i really appreciate it!

You could have a clogged radiator, bad thermostat, bad water pump impeller or just an air lock. To the left of the fil neck is the thermostat housing, to the left of that is a bleeder to remove air when filling. Open the bleeder and slowly fill untill coolant comes out of the bleeder. Make sure you use 50/50 coolant/distilled water and not pure coolant. If you have to drain there is a drain on the bottom front of the radiator. Did you notice if your fan came on while engine was hot?

Are you filling the radiator fill on the neck in front of the fuel tank or just the overflow bottle?
