I was just perusing through the Verses (slow day at work) and noticed a note about the VN700's having a different oil filter thread size then the VN750's.

See this thread

Can anyone verfiy this? I just picked up an oil filter and planned on changing the oil this week. I'm pretty sure whatever I bought said it was ghood for the VN700 & VN750.

Thx. :smiley_th

i checked on wix's web site and they said that they use the same filter 51334.... there is a zn700ltd that it may be confused with..... then i took that filter number and went to purolators website, and checked to see which it is in their brand.....

****FYI****
85 vn 700 and 86-93 vn750's use wix 51334
93- current use wix 51358

The VN700 1985 and VN750 Vulcan 1986-1993 has 20 x 1.5mm threads. The following oil filters will fit.

* Purolator PL14459
* Mobil-1 M1-104
* AMSOil SMF 102
* Baldwin B227
* Fram PH6010A
* Hastings LF402
* NAPA 1334
* Purolator L14459
* WIX 51334

I highly recommend one of the first two, highlighted in blue.

The VN750 Vulcan 1994-2003 also has 20 x 1.5mm threads.

Here is a link to an excellent motorcycle website that has oil filter cross references. http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.html

Hope this helps.

3.5 inch oil filter

Anyone use the recommended longer oil filter on thier VN750? I am going to change the ole oil this weekend and wondered if I will have any issues with the longer filter I have. I opted for the SuperTech @ WalMart for much less and suitable filtering.

Thanks!

Ben, I have one on my 95 right now and it works great and replaced them at each oil change last year.

i strongly recomend the purolator plus.....It has one of the best filter elements out there on the market. I work for a supplier of airline parts, and that is the primary brand we carry. I switch out my purolator every other change, and it works great. bout 5 bucks at pep boys. i'm not sure about other brands. i know fram has a bad habit of comming apart because of the cardboard they use inside of it.
