Starting on my 83 GL1100 naked project. Nothing radical, gonna be a daily rider, not a show bike or garage candy. Plentiful cheap parts, one of the most reliable bikes ever. Only 48k on the clock. Might try a 2 barrel carb manifold, sport bike style exhaust (toying with a 4 into 1 build), cafe solo seat... Kinda in the tradition of the Honda Super Sport 400/750's of the 1980's.

1100cc is medium size these days, it's impressive how overbuilt these are.

Was looking at an '85 yesterday.

Saw a carb conversion that used a two barrel from a Ford four cylinder, the one with a secondary. Like Mustang II or Pinto.

They look even beefier with all the body removed.

I like the idea of the windshield and fairing, but not a fan of frame mounted fairings. I'd really rather find one '94 or newer. But an HD Ultra could grab me in a heartbeat. All this just for the shifter.

I'm still looking at welding up a shifter for the Vulcan but I've ruled out a hand shifter, put one on the ATV and I hate it.

The 1200 is a rare sought after model with it's fat tires. Get it! Digital or analog gauges?
I have an '80 1100 with front suspension and rim

How many running machines do you have Doc? Just curious.
Two... The goldwing will run with about a week worth of work and a couple of tires

Oh I do have a fleet, just only two running
Ah ok, I thought you had a fleet, I may have been getting you confused with another member.

I dig that goldwing, I’m realizing I really like the look of the bikes from the mid-70’s to mid 80’s.
