so i go to start the bike today( a beautiful day to ride) and its a no go.
battery is up
everything is lit up as should be
but nothing when i hit the button?

i took the side cover off and jumped the solinoid and it cranks over
so i unplug the 2 wire plug to the solinoid and test it
ground shows continuity
the yellow w/red stripe shows 0.030v when button is pressed, key on

isnt that supposed to be higher???

i checked that wire to the bottom plug in juct. box and it shows continuity

any ideas??

i forgot i took the ends of my batt charger to the spades on the solinoid and it clicks when 12v is applied but nothing on the bike.
as the wire to the one spade is only getting 0.030v when i hit the start button

yes it should be battery voltage
Is there continuity between ground and Yellow/Green Wire (pin 12 of JB)?

dumb question? Was the bike in Neutral?

Hmm JB headlight mod.. I also think I messed up the troubleshooting chart...but you shouldn't have continuity to ground on pin 12.. it should be 12 volts hot. so, I am going out on a limb and saying you have a bad JB

Ground pins 4,9 and 12
apply power to pins 1,6 and 14.

Check for voltage coming out of pins 2,3a,3b,5,7,8,11,13,15,16,17
if no voltage at any of the pins then there is a problem inside the jb.

ok so i traced and did voltage tests on wires and found i have power going to the start button and when pressed there is 12v to the black w/red wire in the small plug at the jb but no volts coming out of the yellow w/red wire going to the solinoid.
so i pulled out that plug and jumpered those 2 together and hit the start button and it tried to start. sooo i think im looking for a jb

yup, the starter relay inside the jb is not working... try grounding out pins 4,9, and 12 and try to start the bike... all three pins need to go to ground. if the bike starts, then you have a faulty safety switch, if it doesn't start, then you have a bad JB.

JB is short for Junction Box. It is the fuse box and also hold miniature relays and 3 diodes. Since it is more than just a fuse box, Kawasaki decided to call it a Junction Box. we have just shortened it to JB.
