i went to start my bike today and after a few turnovers the battery started to loose power and then everything lost power, figuring that it was the batterie i jumped it off of my truck, once i got it running i removed the jumper cables and it died instantly with no power to anything, no lights no oil light nothing...whats wrong?

the bike doesn't have an alternator like a car. but.. it sounds like both the battery and the stator is dead... charge the battery, then take it to a parts store to have it load tested. if it tests good, then use my write up "Charging System Flow Chart"

svr's guide is fantastic. Follow it and you'll be sure to find where the problem lies.

i looked at the chart and it looks like a different language to me i will have to get the nattery charged and do some research

Do some research on the basic use of a multimeter, and how to read resistance and AC/DC voltage. It'll make more sense then.

i sent my write up to my sister who knows that motorcycles kill people, and that electricity shocks the hell out of a person if they aren't careful. So in other words knows nothing about anything we are discussing here, and she was able to figure it out... she downloaded a picture of a dvm and was able to talk me through exactly how to diagnose the charging system according to my write up...

Get a Digital DVM and set the it to the ~ for VAC
for VDC, and Ω for ohms (resistance)

Here is a decent DVM for a good price that has all the functions you would ever need for working on the Vulcan (or any thing else you might try to tackle)

where do i find the chart that showes what the A1 and all the other abreviations are for
I'll fix that..., on my original document I had the wiring diagram for the charging system along with the R/R pin reference.
A1,A2,A3 are the three yellow stator wires, B is a white wire going to battery positive terminal, M is the middle terminal with a Brown wire it is used for Monitoring the current load on the electrical system through the junction box and through the instrument panel. , and G is the bottom right terminal with a black/yellow wire going to battery ground.
