About 6mo ago I bought a 1999 vn750 that had been raked out with Harley Davidson Sportster fenders with very bad electrical problems that needed new tires wheel bearings for $1800, the perfect bike for me because if I can't wrench on it it is not for me:smiley_th. The previous owner removed the right controls to try to reduce wires I guess and installed a cheap scooter turn signal switch. with the right controls gone as you know I had no choke which made it a pain to start, so I bought one on ebay for twenty dollars. this thing was in horrbile shape electrically. the fan was operated by toggle on the tank, the light switch was on the tank as well with high beem switch on the tree, the after market ignition switch would turn over the starter but not power the ignition, so I drew up a new wiring diagram (which I will post up later today) removing the reserve lighting module, turn signal control unit (because I am using a VN800 tank and speedo so it no longer has the distance sensor so it does me no good). The bike no longer had a junction box so I bought a few relays, diodes and fuse block and built a home made one so I could take advantage of my fan switch that is built into the radiator. I also rewired all the safety switch except kickstand switch because it would start in neutral and the neutral indicator did not work. now everything works like it is suppose to but I have noticed it is hard to start sometimes, so I have ordered new iridium ngk plugs, I am going to reset pick up air gap to about 18 thou and would like to get a new set of high voltage coils. I am looking at Accels inductive coil kit 140403k but our bikes are not shown in the application chart. Accel customer service said they should work (which I do not really trust when they tell me that they are not responsible if they are wrong considering how much the IC ignitor cost). I have not found any posts saying anyone has used them and the primary resistance is .8 ohms above kawasaki's acceptable factory coil range. i am stuck here so i really could use some advice and experianced encounter with this issue. thanks for taking the time to read my rant.

Sweet ride, Welcome to the madness, sounds like you know what you are doing. As for the coils... I say go with it... I have been contemplating them as well. And for the way the Ignitor box works, they should be fine. the ignitor box is just an over priced of electrical garbage that converts the pick up coil pulse to a high voltage pulse to make the coils fires. the extra draw of the larger coils shouldn't be a problem.

Welcome to the Vulcan madness. That is a funky looking Vulcan with all the major mods done to it. Mine is stock, so I will let the more experienced wrenches weigh in here on your questions. Good luck with correcting the previous owners "improvements."

Thanks for the complement and replies, here is the diagram I made up to simplify my wiring and have everything operate correctly as promised. It is alot more simple than kawi's. I did make a few changes during the process of carrying it out but it all works great. With in the next few months I will be stripping her down and will repaint the tank and fenders Harley Davidson Denim black and a local guy pin stripe it white and red. I will also be painting the frame 2005 chevy Tahoe red. right now I am a little tied up installing tubular control arms and building a new exhaust for my 39' Ford. If you guys know any one in florida that does great pinstripe work that does house calls would be great. I need them to pinstrip in between me shooting the base and clear coat. I have also been looking for a chromite choke cable for it. I did find a place online that sold a fast idle cable for our bikes? I would asume they mean choke. Motion Pro cables are a bit high when they are custom, my +6 speedo cable ran me around 80 after taxes.

Do our bikes have a inductive or cdi ignition system?
