Hey Guys

I have a small, egg shaped dent in the top of my gas tank. The paint is not damaged and I believe it can be pulled out. I am currently about to do Fergy's rust removal technique and I remembered a fellow member posted something about removing dents... I feel like it was recently... I just can't remember when and I have searched for a while now.. Using keywords like dent, pull, tank, ext...

In this thread I remember him saying something about using a hot glue gun and pulling the dent out.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any direction or advice would be great.

Much appreciated

Jay

This is what I used to pull a dent my knee made in my tank when I put it on the stand without the stand being down......
Yeah, I caught it with my knee, but at least I didn't lay it down...lol...

It worked good and I have used it a couple of times since on autos...

Thanks Old Dog!

Since I have a hot glue gun I and it's free I am going to try using the directions off the site OlHoss directed me too... If that doesn't work I may order the ding king.

I'll let you know how it works out!

Thanks Man

Ask and ye shall recieve. :)
Daniel Meyer`s paintless dent pulling:

Thanks Man-

Tried this today.. It didn't work 100 percent.. But If I had to guess I would say it made the dent about 65% smaller, so I'm Happy :). I may try some more later.. Ill post some pictures later if I feel it shows enough detail.

But I used the back of my hammer and hot glue...

Thanks Again.

And Thanks Old Dog for your recommendation!

That thread is two years old OD.
I think this is the thread he read a few weeks ago.

Just a hint here for finding an individual post IF YOU KNOW WHO MADE IT.
Click on his/her username in the upper left corner of any of his posts.
A window will open that has an option to find all posts made by that member.

I recalled making the post with dent removal tip, but didn`t recall which thread it was in.
I just quickly scanned through pages of my posts search before finding the above link at the top of page 4, as shown here:

There's also the dry ice method, and then there's the freeze/thaw method that you can only do on an empty and vapor free tank (involves a torch).

You`re right OD, old threads do have a lot of useful information.
When I first started hanging around this board, I would spend hours reading through the forums. Found some good stuff and found some stuff that was refuted by others in later posts. Wisdom is where you find it I guess. :)
