Need fuel adj. screw * update on the twin

So, I tried checking my adjusting screws and the left side turned just fine, I turned it in and backed it out 2-1/2 turns. The problem is the right one looks a little bitched up. I have the flexible handle screwdriver that could get in there, but I still can't turn it properly. I could only get it to turn a little both ways, so now I have no idea where it's set. Looks like I will need to pull the carbs to get at it a little better. Anyone have a spare adjusting screw? If not I'll have to order one.

Might be that when you get it out and cleaned it will move fine. I'd try that, first. I'm trying to remember how mine were before I cleaned them, but I'm pretty sure they turn easier, now.

If not, you can order them from cheapcycleparts.com and the like. Just go into the OEM section, navigate to Kawi, the year, etc. and go to the expanded view for the carb parts and it's in there. Don't remember how much they were but the shipping's probably more! Likely looking at $20 total which seems a lot for a screw, but cheap for getting your scoot up and running!

You can also probably order it from your local dealership.

Ditto what krebsne said - use some PB Blaster and that might help loosen up that screw a little. Once you get it out of there, there are actually four pieces that make up that part - the screw, a spring, a small metal washer, and a teeny-tiny o-ring. Check the condition of all four parts before you place your order!! Good luck!

And the teeny O-ring is a BEAR to get out. I can't imagine getting them out w/ the carbs still on the bike, although I'm sure it's been done. I had to dig mine out with a tiny jeweler's screwdriver. They are tiny, black and wedged in the bottom of a hole...

I found this out while searching for the new screw. It seems like you can get the whole assembly with the spring, o-ring and washer as a kit part # 16014-1080. Click here I'll try to call my dealer tomorrow and see if it's available.

Well, went to adjust the idle mixing screws 2-1/2 turns out before I put the carbs on the twin today and found the po had the heads half stripped on them and I swear there was loctite of some sort on them. They were a real bitch to get out. So I ordered 2 new ones like I listed in the link above. Looks like I won't get her running now till next week. I'm a bit bummed out now.....:(:doh:
