I'm still not sure how I didn't. I think I kicked my left foot out which kept me upright. It's the best I can figure out, because right after I recovered, my left foot was off the peg, but I don't remember what I did. Obviously I just reacted.

When making a turn onto a side road, I hit some sand or dirt on the road. In the video below, you can see how much the front tire turned (the camera is mounted to the handlebar). It was a very strange feeling to have the tire turn left as I slid right.

Coulda been bad; thank God it wasn't.

I have been very careful in the turns since getting back in the saddle because there is still a bit of sand and gravel on the roads here, left over from the winter sanding of icy streets.
Glad to hear your riding experience saved you from road rash this time. :smiley_th
