I’m from Alabama and I have a 2000 Vn750 and that needs a shift shaft replaced but I am looking at buying another motor that just needs the camshaft bearing replaced which would I be better off doing?
Cams are probably easier than splitting the case for the shifter.
I'm not aware of any cam bearings however, so it may have other problems. Maybe needs cams and heads? Or it's a simple cam chain tensioner? Depends on the symptoms.
I did the shift shaft replacement years ago on one of my project bikes. If you have the time I recommend getting a Clymer manual and watching Roach's youtube video's (there's several). You will learn pretty much everything about these bikes, Trust me.
