Finally getting some time to put my bike back together after a fresh rebuild. I have had it apart several times but here is an odd question....

On the top rear motor mount, I have everything the parts diagram shows except I also have metal shims between the rubber isolators and the exhaust manifold. I can't find these on the parts diagrams. Are they stock or did some chuckle head put these in because there was a gap??? Or are they supposed to be part of and attached to the isolators? There is one thick and one thin one on the right side and one thick one on the left side.

The reason I am asking this is because the left one broke in half on me and I'm not really sure what to do since I can't find a listing for this part. See the pic, and yes the right hand side isolater didn't make it into the pic.

It is not uncommon to see an actual gap in the rear mount. I would wager someone may have attempted to close this off with non-original parts.

The mount is really more dependent on the rubber damper through the mount than any "side to side" issues. do take care here as it has been reported many times that the long rod has tried to work it's way out. Remember one member saying he heard it fall out and went back later to find it on the side of the road.

So...use loctite on the threads and do not be concerned if there is a "space" on one side or the other...or both.

They are the ceramic insulators that go on both sides of the rear exhaust manifold, located in the cylinder head section. P/N 16073-1058

I did do some looking and the one spacer on the right side is just the end of the damper that came off it's three little press on pins. After closer inspection of the broken one, I am pretty sure it is ceramic and one the pieces old yella is talking about. I just never looked in the cylinder head section of the parts book.

I feel a little more confident about what I am looking at now and know it's not just something else someone rigged up in the past. Thanks everyone.
