OK, I got my stator back from TPE where I thought he did a super job of rewinding it. Got it in the bike but am still not getting a charge from the system. I think it's the regulator, I got one from Tim that he recommended but I don't know how to ohm it out yet so I can't really test it. I wanted to post the results of my stator test to see if they all looked normal. I think they look fine but would like confirmation.

Ohm Test - Cold & Hot Engine on X1 scale
Leg 1 & 2 = ~ 0
Leg 1 & 3 = ~ 0
Leg 2 & 3 = ~ 0

I know I should be looking for .34 to .52 ohms but that's a little small for my meter to read and awfully close to 0.

Voltage Test - Cold Engine @ 3000 RPM

Leg 1 & 2 = ~ 55.4 VAC
Leg 1 & 3 = ~ 54.6 VAC
Leg 2 & 3 = ~ 55.9 VAC

Voltage Test - Hot Engine @ 3000 RPM

Leg 1 & 2 = ~ 60.2 VAC
Leg 1 & 3 = ~ 60.4 VAC
Leg 2 & 3 = ~ 60.3 VAC

I think the voltage tells the better story. To me the stator acts fine, it seems like 60 VAC is a little high for 3000 RPM but it is consistant. I think I should be looking at the regulator as the source of my problem.

The stator is not your problem.

Thanks Lance, didn't really want to pull the engine again. Anyone have an idea of where to get a good R/R other than Kawi?

I did some research and it looks like the following list of bikes and years use the same regulator. I spot checked prices on Ricks Motorsports and most prices are right at $105 with the ZX 600 at $95.

1988-2006 VN750 VULCAN
2006 EX650R NINJA
1987-2006 KLR-650
1990-1991 KL-650 TENGAI
1985-1997 ZX600R NINJA
1995-2002 ZX6R
1990-1998 ZX6D
2002-2004 ZZR600
1986-1987 ZL600 ELIMINATOR
1996-1997 ZL600 ELIMINATOR
1990-1993 ZR550 ZEPHYR
1983-1986 ZX550(GPZ550)
1988-2005 KLR-250

It does look like if you purchase from CheapCycle Parts they give a discount on a Ricks Motorsports regulator, $105 at Ricks VS $88 at CheapCycle, they make some of it back with shipping though it's stlll cheaper in the end. Seems like from what I've read up here, Ricks is the best way to go for a reliable part that will last awhile.

I'm a little stuck, I bought the regulator from Tim's when I had the stator rewound, it cost me $79. I've been trying to get in touch with him for the last 2 weeks by e-mail and gotten no response. Tried calling today and got a recording. My concern is that he might be out for a while and I'm sitting here only needing a regulator to ride.
