I want (have) to replace the mechanical seal in my 1995 VN 750.
I have to find a source of parts, ie, gaskets, o-rings, etc. I have Clymers, Kawasaki service manual, and I've been to buykawasaki.com, but none of these shows me exactly what I will need.
Anyone have a lead to a better view of the engine along with part numbers?

The fische at buykawasaki.com is even what the dealers parts department used. I found that out when I went to get a new shifter seal. They had a hard time finding out which fische it was on themselves. I actually had to stear them to the right fische and part. The same fische are what is used at ronayers.com..

Maybe we can help you find it on the fische. Can you be a bit more specific as to what the "mechanical" seal is and where it is suppose to be on the bike?

I think that the fische is the same thing shown in buykawasaki.com. But it does not show the 'mechanical seal'.
The 'mechanical seal' is a seal that is part of the water pump assembly. I think it prevents coolant from mixing with the engine oil. When this seal begins to fail or when it does fail the coolant drains out of the "drainage outlet passage". If you have a Kawasaki service manual you can see the reference to it in chapter 3-7. In my Clymer's Manual it is in chapter 9 on page 351.
In neither of these publications can I see a definitave picture of the set-up, so that I can see what parts I will need. Same goes or buykawasaki.com.
I have been in contact with Gypsy ( she convinced me that this was my problem), but she is enroute home from Washington to Texas at this time.
So,I still need a schematic of the engine with patr numbers, but there does not seem to be such a thing for this specific part of the engine. Unless I missed something aong the way.
Anyway, that is my story.
Thanks for the reply.

Heh Bob,
The best I can figure you want to look at the Crankcase Fiche. In the parts list there is a Seal-Mechanical Part #49063-1052 that looks like it could be the right part. The drawing doesn't show the right side of the engine very well exploded, but this part is coming into the right side of the engine so I think it should be right.

PS: I am just finishing my seat mod. I hope to have pictures ready next week. Thanks again for the spare seat.

Hi Mike,
Nice to hear from you.
The fische view is confusing, but I did manage to get the gasket number(the same one you gave me), and the seal number (49063-1052). But there are some other parts that I'll need which I can't see in the fische.
There is a chromed L-shaped pipe going from the case to the block. This must have o-rings or gaskets, but I can't see them in the fische.
and I'll bet there are other parts that I'll need, but can't think of or can't see.

Look at the middle of the radiator diagram.. for the tube and it's seals'

92055a for the o-rings and 32033c for the chrome tube it seems..

I hate trying to find the parts on the fische, but at least it is there for us to use and way better than nothing..

I need to find the part number for the O-ring which goes around the water pump shaft.
I've looked at the fiche, but can't see it.
