I am buying a new vn 750 this summer( I have some things to do before the new bike comes), how hard/expensive is it to lube the splines? It sounds as if I should have that done when I get new tires mounted, or can I do it myself and save over two hours overtime money?

I check the Propeller Shaft lubrication each time that I replace the rear tire on mine. I have an airlift table that makes it a lot easier, but I've heard from others that have done it on the bike's center stand. Your tire man will have nearly everything taken apart when installing a new tire, so maybe you can have him take one more step and drop the final drive for you to take a peek.

I just did mine last month. It is fairly easy and cheap. Only expense was the moly grease, $9 at the Honda dealer and I also changed the final drive gear oil while I was at it. I did it on the centerstand, but had to have my buddy lift the bike slightly to get the tire out without deflating it. Someone suggested a 1" pice of wood under the centerstand, which I will do if I ever do it by myself.
