Hello all,

When I bought my 1989 Vulcan (VN750) this last weekend, it had saddlebags on it, but I noticed that they could not be opened easily - the taillight had to be moved. So I am looking for some new ones. I noticed on a few other threads on here, it mentions having to relocate the taillights.

Is this something I should look into, and maybe just keep the bags I have? They are decent bags. I really would prefer not to relocate the lights if I don't have to however, as I really hate to mess with something that works now, if ya' know what I mean! Lol

As always, all advice is greatly appreciated :smiley_th

I have the Kawasaki tail light relocation brackets. They are very easy to install, just bolt on and come with tail light extension wires. Basically plug and play.

Knifemaker made these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/knifemaker1954/sets/72157602271290728/ Requires some fabrication, and extending the wires.

Unless the lights are relocated, you are pretty limited as to what bags will fit. With the brackets, you can use larger bags.

flitecontrol - where exactly did you get your brackets and extension wires? Did you make them, or can they be purchased somewhere?

Thanks for all the advice and info - I REALLY appreciate it!

I bought these...

And then bought these... which came with the above relocaters... so I don't need the first ones.

If you want these factory chromed relocaters, which are in pretty good shape, I would sell them to you for what I have in them, which is $30 shipped. You'll just need to extend the wires and -possibly- use the next size longer bolts, but maybe not.

The above parts can be kind of hard to find.

Accessories4bikes.com, Part number K53021-094 is the whole relocator kit. Wires, bag supports, and signal relocators. About $160 dollors shipped but they are nice.

I got the entire kit from ebay at a great price; $60 IIRC. The seller stated that some parts might be missing, but it turns out they weren't! Brackets, supports, extra wire and longer chrome bolts.

I would take him up on the brackets offer. You can easily lengthen the wires and probably get the saddlebag brackets if they aren't already there.

Chuck - I went to accessories for bikes and entered that part number, but only the saddlebag supports came up...?

Wondering if maybe you had a different link...

Also, I am considering picking up those brackets as everyone suggested, but would like to see a "full kit" if such a thing exists. I'll check out those links from fc too.

Thanks all!

Well, the picture shows the entire kit: light relocation bracket, longer bolts and saddlebag bracket. Can't be sure since they don't give more of a description, but that price is about what the entire kit goes for.

That part number is the whole kit. Every thing is in there. Bought mine 2 months ago. Takes 2 weeks to get it. They order it from the manufacture as you order,,, so they told me. New, used or however you can get the kit it's well worth it. The bag supports hold the bags well clear of the rear tire so if you like the way your bags hang now you may want to just find the signal relocators without the bag brackets.

That is a good sale price. Mine was $145 plus shipping from them.

Thanks all : )

Chuck and FC (flitecontrol), thank you both for clarifying that it is indeed the entire kit. And it does sound like a fairly good price. I recently bought just the brackets for the GZ250 I had, and they were $99. So it sounds pretty fair to get the brackets too for the slightly higher price.

I think I am going to order them now, while the sale price is still valid. I really appreciate all the insight all - you guys/gals are the best!

I looked at thoughs brackets for a long time. Don't know how they would work. The 750 shocks have more angle than thoughs allow.

n2oMike - I just might be interested in those relocator brackets you've got. I should know by tomorrow for sure.

If I am interested, how would you suggest we handle payment - PayPal maybe? Let me know. Thanks!

Another guy PM'd me about 10 minutes before your post, and I got back with them after not hearing from the original guy... but never heard back.

If you want these, let me know. $30 shipped, and they're yours!

To anybody else out there in VN750 land.... I'm still looking for a rear luggage rack, if you happen to want to sell one!
Selling your bike??? Hey, sell me your rack, first! :smiley_th

N2oMike - sorry I haven't gotten back to you on this. I decided to bite the bullet and order the entire kit of off Accessories4Bikes.com.

I appreciate you offering to sell them to me, and from the sounds of it, you won't have any trouble getting rid of them : )
