Ok, since the other gentleman asked how many miles before a rebuild....I have to ask. How many miles before stator replacement? I am trying to gauge when mine will go....:beerchug:

50,505 miles when my original stator "found" its way to ground. Maybe you won't have to worry too much just yet.

I think that is a hack job. Taking the engine out just isn't that hard and the upside is you have a perfect opportunity to make it clean as new, and do other maintenance.

Perhaps, but TOC Manufacturing will do it for you and hit you for about $450.

John is right and you still have to pull the engine with TOC ,doing the machine work,If you don't have the necessary tools or the nerve to tackle it,Don't try it .I personally ,will applaud the the man for figuring it out and it doesn't look any different than stock when finished,I would have used High temp Black instead of orange,so it would be less obvious.But if it works right and saves a bunch of money and time,hurrah! He looks like he rides the bike daily and probably plans on keeping it for a while or he wouldn't have took the time to make this modification.Poor people have poor ways and make the most of what they have.I don't know his financial situation but this is definitely a money saving plan the first time and if the second comes around,it will be a piece of cake.
