I was looking a battery for my Vulcan on ebay. 86-06 KAWASAKI VN750-A Vulcan 750 Engs Motorcycle Li Battery 8 Cell 100-011 It looks like a good battery compared to what is in my bike now. It has 275 cca and 15 amp hour. The price is 142 bucks. It only weighs 1.81 lbs. Would it be worth getting this. I have to replace the battery in my bike. It right now is a stock maintenance battery.

Kuf, you really should check out the following VN750 forum thread:

http://www.vn750.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15932&highlight=deka

If you do in fact decide to go with the Deka discussed in the given thread, make sure it is fully charged b4 you install it in your bike.

Later, if you have a problem with this battery, you can of course take it back to your local Advance Auto store.

Anyway, if you play your cards right (so to speak) you can get a bike battery (with a warranty from a local store) for about half what your Ebay link above wants.

Given proper care (i.e., keep the battery connected to a motorcycle battery "smart" charger/tender when the battery is not in use), the sealed, maintenance-free, AGM Deka (or other sealed, AGM battery brand models: Yuasa, WestCo, Sears "Diehard") should last at least several years--and all should be available for under $100--that fit our bike.

"Golden Dragon" sounds like a "made in China" problem --beware of cheap, poorly made overseas brands!

Good luck....:beerchug:

Lotta ebay stuff is Chinese crap. Shorai is the only company selling Li batteries in the US that I'd trust.
I wouldn't trust Shorai's batteries at all. They don't put out anywhere near the CCA that they advertise. They keep telling people that have our bikes to get the 18AH version because their 14AH can barely get our bike going. The 14AH version was advertised to have over 200CCA, which should be perfectly fine for our bikes.

Well I'm not to sure than why using the 18AH wouldn't work fine. I posted about this in the Yahoo group, and so did someone else.

But a recent post there calls attention to Shorai's warranty .... Which kinda sounds not as good as the one Westco offers on their AGM.

Either way, not sure how good a 40 buck AGM from china is going to be....

I thought there was a recent post about this and someone mentioned the china battery broke...as did the three replacements.

Not counting the Li battery.... Still think you get what you pay for. I think I'll wait a few years and see how all those Shorai batteries worked out.

Guess I'm getting an AGM. Likely the Yellow Motobat I posted about before.
