Has anyone tried fitting a larger(diameter) front wheel on a Vulcan 750? Aside from the obvious speedo/odometer issues it would cause, and fitting of the front fender, could a larger rim/tire combo work? From what I've seen, there might be room to squeeze another few inches in there(possibly up to 21"?) and I'm just wondering if I'm the only person who's had a crazy idea like this before. So far as my understanding of it goes, this would increase the front ride height, which would increase trail, providing a more stable ride at high speeds(I think i've got that right?). I'm not necessarily going for a raked out look, just wondering if it would work, or if not, why it would be a bad idea. Any feedback or words of wisdom would be appreciated before I dig into the idea too deeply. Having my bike in pieces in the garage while I wait for the motor to come back has got me dreaming up crazy ideas.. :p

I'd skimmed that one before, I'm more interested in running a larger diameter wheel(20" or 21" instead of 19") than in just changing to a different tire. Thanks for the link though!

Some of us have switched to a slightly bigger and fatter front tire. I've noticed an improvement in ride and cornering. Going with a 21" rim may increase the rake slightly and give you a little more stability in a straight line, but you'd lose out on handling. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
Plus, you'd have to remove/replace the fender and may have to make some mods to the forks. Not saying it can't be done, but it's more than just putting on bigger rims.

Something that hasn't been mentioned (although maybe you have thought about it) would be needing to fit brake rotors to the wheel.
That could be alot more difficult than moving the fender or compensating for speedo change.

Most likely involve relocating the brake calipers as well.

I put a 110/90-19 tire on the front and the bike actually doesn't look as "raked" as it did with the factory 100/90-19 tire. I honestly would probably not like the look of a 21" tire/rim on the front. The bike would look like it was going up hill!

that should work , you will need to move the fender , i would like to try a 21" with spinners

I am not sure you have got it right when you say that increasing the trail is better at high speeds. As I remember it, its can be worse as it can cause wheel wobble which makes your handlebars swing rapidly from side to side. There is a tolerance range - just from memory I thought it was up to something like 6 inches. I have an authoritative little tract on the subject somewhere. I'll look it out and let you know what it says.
