Hey all-

On the way to work this morning, I turned 24,000 miles and got to wondering... how well these motors are built? For those of you who have more miles, what do you do to keep your machine in top shape? My understanding is that these bikes are relativly low maintenance.

I change the oil/filter every 3,000
I put in new plugs fall 2010
Installed TOC MCCT's spring of 2010
I checked/lubed splines fall of 2010 (when I got new tires)
Inspected brakes fall of 2010
I run approx 1/4 cup of Seafoam through it every 4th tank or so.

Other than that- all i do is ride it. Is there anything else I should be doing?

Sounds about right. Also change the coolant (I use Engine Ice), final drive oil, and brake fluid every few years. Check/clean air filters every year (I have the K&N filters). I have 45k on mine.

Here is cdthayers service order maintenance sheet:
http://www.cdthayer.com/SERVICE_ORDER.pdf

There is a more complete maintenance schedule with mileage and time interval recommendations in Table 1 at the end of Chapter #3 of the Clymer Service manual.

It is also on page 1-8 in the Kawi service manuals on the TOC site:
http://www.tocmanufacturing.com/Files for Download/VN750 Manual and Parts.pdf

or the searchable one in the link on Kanucks signature line.

make that 46k

Hey everyone- turned 46k today and have enjoyed this machine. Have done basics only (oil/fluids) lubed, plugs etc. I do have a bit of a knocking- not acct's. I converted to mcct and check/adjust every other change. Any of you high mopers do anything else? Valves are self adjust yes? Tell me what I need to do to get another 46k out of it. Budget does not allow for a replacement.

Thanks all!

Tim

Mine had 63k when I sold it. Keep changing the oil (and filter) every 3000 miles. And hope the stator doesn't go bad. =(
