Well I just ordered a new "Big Crank ETX14L" ($75 W/free S&H) battery for my Sportster thinking it is the lil brother of the one we had such good luck with in the VN750, hope it works as good in it as the Big "Crank ETX15L" did in the Vulcan...

I thought pretty strong about this 12 cell one on sale at $119.99 http://www.alienmotion.com/html/products_-_alien_motion_batter.html but don't know enough about them...

Those look a lot like the Optima car Batteries which are pretty popular with the offroaders and hotrodders. That is kinda steep to take a chance on it being what it is advertised.

The Big Crank batteries have pretty well proven themselves,I would have went the you did.

I went to Advanced Auto last Jan. when a cold snap came thru and killed my battery. I got an MagnaPower ETX15L, 220 CCA'a http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_12-Volt-Sealed-AGM-Premium-Batteries-for-Power-Sports-Applications-MagnaPower_16940004-P_40_A|GRP60054_____

I haven't had any problems with it at all and easily cranks by bike up every time, hot or cold. At $75 bucks I figured it was worth a try with this AGM battery and have been very happy with it.
CW-4, I think that is exactly the same battery that we are talking about just under another name... My Sportster uses an ETX14L and the VN750 uses the ETX15L... Some way Advance came up that my bike used an ETX20L and when I got it home it was too big, so I returned it and they only had an ETX14 which had the posts reversed for me... The "big Crank" and the "MagnaPower" spec. out, and look exactly the same, except for the name and are both made in the USA so I believe them to be the exact same battery, with the Advance battery being labeled for them...
PS-And both being "Deka" batteries...

Update, received and installed the new Big Crank ETX14L battery in my 1200 Sportster on Wed. 11th, this morning (Sat. 14th) it hit 20*f, a temp that I would do no ridin in, not even close...
So, I think what a good time to test the new battery, it has sit for 3 days in the cold shed and the temp is @ the 20* mark...
That battery turned it better than it had ever turned before, even new, it whizzed and started the best it ever has, even when warm...
Now, if it will keep that up for 4 or so yrs., I'll be a very happy camper...:smiley_th...:pepper:...

Battery on E-Bay

Somebody is selling a gel maintanence free battery on E-Bay for $42.00. They are calling it a YTX14AHL-BS. It has a Golden Dragan name on it. Do all the numbers mean anything? Is this like the Yuasa YTX14AHL-BS? I am going to need a battery by spring just want to know.

It is a Chinese made battery, and probably poor quality. My Chinese battery lasted about 18 months and left me stranded without warning. IMO, you're better off spending $15-20 more and getting a U.S. made battery such as East Penn (?) or Deka. Someone here has a link to the Deka battery on ebay. My Deka has been in over two years and still cranks hard.

OlHoss, Your E-bay link would end up costing you $72.95 delivered to your door. My Tri State link in prior post would cost you $66.95 delivered to your door. Same battery but I'll keep the 6 bucks in my pocket.
