I think so. I ride some interstate trips. Maybe a little less wind chill but also keeps your pants from beating on your legs all the time. The Memphis Fats windscreen and lowers have saved me from some rocks and big bugs too.

Question, did you have to relocate the rear turn signals for your saddle bags? I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this on mine

I trimmed the leather flap that holds the saddle bags together so that they'd fit just under the rear turn signals. Worked perfectly.

Those are OEM saddle bags. They use factory supports and turn signal relocation hardware. Moves the turn signals back about 6 inches.

For any decent size bag, yes - you have to mov the turn signals back or relocate to the license plate bracket.

I didn't...I think these bags are a little larger than the ones in your photo. However, yours are sitting higher.
It's relatively common among bikers to trim that central leather strap that holds the two bags together. When I bought my first set of saddlebags for my '94 Yamaha Virago, I was at the Cherokee, NC biker rally. Bought them from a vendor that helped me install them, and he had a special leather knife (kind of had a hook-shape) and trimmed that flap to accommodate the tail lights.
I've done it that way a few times. You can almost trim half of that strap off.

The best luggage is whatever serves your needs. I use the OEM bags some and also a set of LeatherLykes shown on the bike over on the avitar <---- photo. Also an old general use trunk I've drilled that goes on/off in about 5 min.
(PS BTW - the LeatherLykes are not made any more but they are top of the line large waterproof locking hard bags with a clip removal system that allows you to pop them off and carry into a motel room. Highly recommended. They are still sold some out there and on ebay but be cautious. They are specifically moulded for all the various MCs by model. Also the mounting hardware is specific for the bags and pretty much render them useless without the hardware.)

Good info, thanks! Mine unzip, which is okay, but I do like that clip option. Sometimes the zipper binds up when I try to put them back on.
At some point, I'd like to get the solid "bags"... But I've got other projects on this bike to get finished before I move on to that.
