I recently picked up this bike as a project. The tank was off when I got it, and I'm struggling to find where this hose coming off the back end of the tank goes to. Help would be greatly appreciated.

My ‘86 appears to have the vent outlet up under the tank. No hose on it when I bought the thing, however there a corresponding hole in the frame crossmember directly in front of the battery. I presume the hose needs to go through it, however I need to make sure it doesn’t empty onto the exhaust.

Not normally. It just gets routed in the front of the rear tire. However, I routed mine down into the right hand side cover. As long as it gets air, that's all that matters.
