Help, oils drain plug broke off

121 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Spockster
Went to change oil today and the head on the plug was already completely rounded off. I couldn’t find an extraction socket at the store so I used a rotary tool to make a slot the. Used a flathead impact screwdriver to try and bust it loose only I ended up breaking half the head off. Any tips on getting this out? 1986 Vulcan 750

Notching the plate and the chisel worked thank you!
When you put the new plug on, I believe it has a rubber seal on one side. Some folks will rub a little oil on on drain caps to prevent it from sticking in the future. I've always done this with cars. Should be okay to do on a bike as well.
