Yes, what you described is not happening. The clutch spins like a fan would.

I'll have to dig in then. I just noticed a rattling sound coming from that side of the engine, seeming like it was a nut that spun off. At that point I killed the engine.

Alright. Culprit was the right side crank gear bolt. Looks like that never got torqued down...

Make sure the water pump gets sealed, even if it means a new gasket.

So, went out to start the bike today, (30 degrees out) and let it run for about 10 minutes. Went back out to garage to find white smoke out the tailpipes which smelled sweet. There was minimal smoke while I was riding it yesterday, but that subsided after the first 15 or so minutes. There was some (what seemed to be water) on both mufflers, but not so much that it would be dripping out. Oil is clean w/ little to no contamination.

Just worrying me since I've put so much time into the rebuild.
Alright. Culprit was the right side crank gear bolt. Looks like that never got torqued down...
