Lost w/ what going on w/ these random splice wires???

Guy before me did a number on these wires.

What should i do?,
where to start?

I would get some correct gauge wire in the correct colors and splice in using butt splices and/or heat shrink tube and/or solder to "remake" the correct harness. Then tie it up correctly to eliminate future problems.

The shop manual has all the color coding for every circuit.

Yup, that's good old zip cord, primitive at best.

It looks like a lamp cord or one of the cheap-o extension cords.

You mention a black box in the tool compartment.
Does the brake light flash on & off a few times when the brake is first applied?
If so, could be a brake light modulator. Otherwise...???... don't know w/o a pic.

This is some sort of rigged up lamp cord,
One end is a type of plug, and the other seems to be meant to be attached to the battery
Maybe someone can tell what it's for, could it be a crackheaded battery tender?

Also, what could be the purpose of this, This is where all those wire go, not sure what it is, does it belong somewhere else???
My other Vulcan is back east, so can't remeber if this thing was mounted somewhere else???

Haven't put any power to the bike yet, Dude disconnected many plugs to remove the carbs, if you look at the other picture in the album,
" Another Vulcan, This one gonna hurt. " , it show the guy i got it from took vents, coolant hose, plastics, and everything else that didn't need to come off,
so far i am trying to clean it up, look all over, see what exactly is going on.

Ahhh now the plug in the toolbox looks like something..
It looks like a quick connect for a charger or battery tender.. almost..
Usually the quick connect has a male and female connect but there are some with just two female

Any clue what the black box w/ those wire from the lights of the rear of the bike, the wires got sliced and then sent to the box in the seat back compartment???
